A powerful explosion rocked a quiet neighborhood in northwest Austin, Texas, late Saturday morning, leaving four people injured and a home reduced to rubble. According to the Austin Fire Department, the blast occurred around 11:25 a.m. on Double Spur Loop, not far from U.S. 183 and McNeil Road.

Three individuals were pulled from the wreckage with various injuries, while a responding firefighter also sustained minor wounds. The explosion’s impact was so intense that it caused partial collapses in nearby homes and led to power outages due to downed lines.
While the exact cause is still under investigation, early indications suggest a gas-related issue, possibly involving propane, as the affected home reportedly lacked natural gas service. Witnesses across the area reported hearing a thunderous boom and feeling their buildings shake miles from the blast site.
Emergency crews are still assessing the scene and working to fully extinguish lingering hot spots as officials continue piecing together what led to the devastating explosion.
