
Starting April 1, 2025, Canada’s federal minimum wage will increase from $17.30 to $17.75 per hour, a 2.4% hike based on inflation adjustments. This change applies to federally regulated sectors like banking, postal services, and interprovincial transportation, ensuring wages keep up with rising living costs.
Several provinces are also implementing wage increases:
- New Brunswick: Rising to $15.65 per hour on April 1.
- Newfoundland & Labrador: Increasing to $16.00 per hour on April 1.
- Nova Scotia: Climbing to $15.70 per hour on April 1, with a second raise to $16.50 on October 1.
- British Columbia: Jumping to $17.85 per hour on June 1.
- Ontario: Expected to adjust its current $17.20 rate in October.
